I oppose Short Term rentals in residential neighborhoods as they destroy the basic fabric of residential neighborhoods and lead to high levels of stress as residents do not know who the next mob is that will invade the STR. If they call Police, will the STR mob retaliate against the neighbors when the police leave? How many loud 8 hour long / 5 day long screaming events should neighbors tolerate? I have over 30 hours of noise violation recordings from just 3 months at 1113 Firewater Cir.
I oppose STRs in Lewisville. We've had 3 STRs in my subdivision in the last year. I'm worried more single-family homes will be converted to STRs in future years bringing more traffic, noise, and trash. One directly across the street from my driveway advertises on airbnb to accommodate 20+ people. The airbnb next door to it advertises to accommodate 14+. A residential subdivision is not suitable for this kind of use and number of people they bring. The 3rd airbnb is 3 houses from these 2.
I oppose the Short Term Rentals in Lewisville. The City of Lewisville has zoning ordinances that prevent hotels from going in existing residential subdivisions. While SRTs are different from hotels, they still bring additional people, cars, noise, trash, and other activities that are not expected when buying a home in a residential zoning district. If state laws allow it, at a minimum SRTs should require an SUP to operate giving the residents a chance to support or oppose the use change.
